Hyperolius rwandae Dehling, Sinsch, Rödel, and Channing in Channing, Hillers, Lötters, Rödel, Schick, Conradie, Rödder, Mercurio, Wagner, Dehling, Du Preez, Kielgast, and Burger, 2013, Zootaxa, 3620: 337. Holotype: ZMB 77221, by original designation. Type locality: "from a pond in farmland on the eastern outskirts of Butare, Huye District, South Province, Rwanda (2° 37′ 10.79″ S, 29° 45′ 08.45″ E)".

Distribution

Known from four localites in southern, central, eastern, and northern Rwanda, as well as adjacent Burundi and Tanzania. 

Comment

In the Hyperolius nasutus species group according to the original publication. Dehling and Sinsch, 2019, Zool. Anz., 280: 65–77, reported on the evolution of larval and adult morphospace in the Central African Albertine Rift, including this species which they considered to be in the Hyperolius nasutus group. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 178–179, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
