Distribution
Isolated records in southeastern Gabon and central-west and southeastern Rep. Congo, and northern half of Dem. Rep. Congo, likely extending into adjacent South Sudan, and extreme southern Central African Republic.

Comment
Related to Hyperolius kivuensis and Hyperolius multifasciatus, according to the original publication, but very similar to Hyperolius cinnamomeoventris, with which it has been commonly confused, according to Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 152. See account by Inger, 1968, Explor. Parc Natl. Garamba, Miss. H. de Saeger, 52: 161. Schiøtz, 2006, Alytes, 24: 58, discussed the species. Bamba-Kaya, Zassi-Boulou, Tobi, Hayes, Portik, Blackburn, and Jongsma, 2019, Herpetol. Notes, 12: 873–876, discussed the habitat and range of the species (including records from Gabon and Rep. Congo), providing new localities and a dot map.
