Known only from the type locality (from one locality in Mamiwa Kisara North Forest Reserve in the Ukaguru Mountains, Tanzania, 1862 m elevation).

Comment

A member of the spiny-throated reed-frog clade (including Hyperolius bugessi, Hyperolius davenporti, Hyperolius minutissimus, Hyperolius ruvuensis, Hyperolius spingularis, Hyperolius tanneri, and Hyperolius ukwiva) and the sister taxon of Hyperolius ukwiva, according to the original publication, where morphology and molecular markers were detailed.
