Hyperolius vilhenai Laurent, 1964, Publ. Cult. Companhia Diamantes Angola, 67: 155. Holotype: MD 6213, by original designation. Type locality: "galierie forestière de la rivière, Luíta, Poste de Cuílo, Lunda", Angola.

Vilhena's Reed Frog (Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 184).
Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Cuílo, Lunda, northern Angola); likely to be found in adjacent Dem. Rep. Congo.

Marques, Ceríaco, Blackburn, and Bauer, 2018, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 65 (Suppl. II): 115, provided a map and brief account for Angola. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 396, regarded this as part of Hyperolius cinnamomeoventris 'East' based on unpublished molecular evidence,
