Engystomops puyango Ron, Toral, Rivera, and Terán-Valdez, 2010, Zootaxa, 2606: 28. Holotype: QCAZ 26978, by original designation. Type locality: "Ecuador, Provincia El Oro, Bosque Protector Puyango, near the bridge over the Puyango River on the road Alamor-Arenillas (3.87159° S, 80.03770° W), 321 m above sea level".
Common Names
Puyango Dwarf Frog (Armijos-Ojeda, Székely, Székely, Cogǎlniceanu, Cisneros-Heredia, Ordóñez-Delgado, Escudero, and Espinosa, 2021, ZooKeys, 1063: 31).
Distribution
Southwestern Ecuador (Provincia Loja and Provincia El Oro) between 320 and 1291 m elevation; presumably into adjacent Peru.

Comment
Most similar to Engystomops pustulatus according to the original publication, where external morphology, morphometrics, and advertisement call were detailed. Armijos-Ojeda, Székely, Székely, Cogǎlniceanu, Cisneros-Heredia, Ordóñez-Delgado, Escudero, and Espinosa, 2021, ZooKeys, 1063: 31, added a new localities in El Oro Province, Ecuador, and (p. 38) provided a dot map. Nascimento, de Sá, and Garcia, 2022, J. Morphol., 283: 1299–1317, reported on larval external, oral and skeletal morphology.
