Comment
Confused with Physalaemus olfersii prior to its naming according to the original publication. Silva, Coelho, Viana, and Santos, 2011, Check List, 7: 282-284, provided a northern record and commented on the range. In the Physalaemus cuvieri clade, Physalaemus olfersii species group, of Lourenço, Targueta, Baldo, Nascimento, Garcia, Andrade, Haddad, and Recco-Pimentel, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 92: 204–216. Rocha, Assis, and Pereira Silva, 2018, Herpetol. Notes, 11: 893–896, provided a record for the state of Rio de Janeiro, as well as discussing and mapping the known range with the addition of several new records. Hepp and Pombal, 2020, Zootaxa, 4725: 1–106, discussed this species as part of a genus-wide discussion of bioacoustical traits among the species. Fraga, Assis, Guimarães, and Feio, 2022, Zootaxa, 5190: 447–450, reported on larval morphology
