Adenomera varcena Borburema, Moraes, Santos, Ron, Haddad, Giaretta, and Carvalho, 2026, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 114: 206. Holotype: UFMG-AMP 21999, by original designation. Type locality: "a forest fragment in the lower Moa River, –7.62325°, –72.78799°, 169 m elevation, on the south bank of the Moa River, municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, state of Acre, Brazil". Distribution

Upper Amazon Basin in Orellana, Pastaza, and Morona-Santago provinces, Ecuador, east to states of Acre and western Amazonas, Brazil, and the Department of Loreto (and likely Ucayali) in Peru.

Formerly confused with Adenomera simonstuarti, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, molecular markers (mt- and nuDNA), and advertisement call were detailed, as well as a dot distribution map provided.
