Crossodactylodes serranegra Santos, Pinheiro, Garcia, Griffiths, Haddad, and Barata, 2023, Herpetologica, 79: 110. Holotype: CFBH 44887, by original designation. Type locality: "'Barro Preto' trail, Parque Estadual da Serra Negra, municipality of Itamarandiba, state of Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil (18°0′39.2″S, 42°44′30.3″W, 1556 m above sea level)".

Previously noted as Crossodactylodes sp. 3 by Pedroso, Santos, and Lourenço, 2022, Genome, 65: 255–264, who described the karyotype, and as Crossodactylodes sp. by Santos, Barata, Ferreira, Haddad, Gridi-Papp, and Carvalho, 2022, Bioacoustics, 31: 175–190, who described the advertisement call, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, genetic markers, and natural history were detailed.
