Comment

Considered as having uncertain relationships to other genera, according to Heyer, 1983, Arq. Zool., São Paulo, 30: 276. Lourenço, Garcia, and Recco-Pimentel, 2003, Genet. Mol. Biol., 26: 139–143, discussed restriction fragment analysis of rDNA and suggested a close relationship with Paratelmatobius. See comment under Paratelmatobius. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, confirmed this relationship.
