Boophis (Boophis) janewayae Vences, Köhler, Hutter, Preick, Petzold, Rakotoarison, Ratsoavina, Glaw, and Scherz, 2024, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 74: 670. Holotype: ZSM 472/2009, by original designation. Type locality: "Angozongahy campsite, western side of Makira plateau (15.4370°S, 49.1186°E, 1009 m a.s.l.), North East of Madagascar." Distribution

Known from (1) the type locality, western side of the Makira Reserve (Angozongahy and Fotsialanana), (2) the eastern side of the Makira Reserve (around "Simpona Lodge”), and (3) Betampona Reserve (sites: Sahambendrana, Sahabefoza, Sahaindrana, Vohitsivalana); elevational range spans from 349 m to 1067 m.

In the Boophis blommersae group, Boophis marojezensis complex, according to the original publication, where adult comparative morphology, advertisement call, and molecular markers (mtDNA) were detailed. Previously confused with Boophis marojezensis.
