Distribution

Low-elevation rainforest in Northern Central East Madagascar; known from An’Ala and Betampona, 190–840 m elevation.

In the subgenus Brygoomantis, Mantidactylus biporus clade of Scherz, Crottini, Hutter, Hildenbrand, Andreone, Fulgence, Köhler, Ndriantsoa, Ohler, Preick, Rakotoarison, Rancilhac, Raselimanana, Riemann, Rödel, Rosa, Streicher, Vieites, Köhler, Hofreiter, Glaw, and Vences, 2022, Megataxa, 7: 113–311, who provided an account detailing (pp. 263–265) molecular and morphological diagnosis, natural history, advertisement call, adult morphology, and distribution, and noting that the previous description of the tadpole was based on Mantidactylus inaudax.
