Same as "Lithobates pipiens" |
OR statement. Means that the results of the search will all records that have either of the terms held together by an OR |
Lithobates OR "Costa Rica" |
Recovers all records that contain the word "Lithobates" or "Costa Rica": 402 records inasmuch as this will include all records for the entire amphibian fauna of Costa Rica |
Combining Boolean operators within the Basic Search box (AND, OR, NOT, quotation marks) |
Lithobates AND "Costa Rica" NOT forreri |

Comment
See Blommers-Schlösser, 1979, Beaufortia, 29: 1–77, for formulation of species groups noted in records, synonymies, and review. Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 13–59, and Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 139–261, provided synonymies of the species. Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 305–352, and Glaw and Vences, 1994, Fieldguide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 2: 119, discussed the subgenera and species groups of Mantidactylus (this heavily modified subsequently by Glaw and Vences, 2006, Organisms Divers. Evol., 6: 236–253). Daly, Andriamaharavo, Andriantsiferana, and Myers, 1996, Am. Mus. Novit., 3177: 1–34, suggested the possibility of paraphyly of Mantidactylus with respect to Mantella. Glaw and Vences, 1997 "1996", Salamandra, 32: 253, provided a cladogram to the species of Spinomantis. Richards, Nussbaum, and Raxworthy, 2000, Afr. J. Herpetol., 49: 23–32, provided molecular evidence for the paraphyly of Mantidactylus with respect to Mantella and Laurentomantis (which is considered by most authors to be a subgenus of Mantidactylus). Vences and Glaw, 2001, Alytes, 19: 107–139, defined and discussed relationships within the Mantidactylus asper group and provided a key to the species. Glaw and Vences, 2002, Herpetol. J., 12: 11–20, defined the Mantidactylus domerguei group and discussed the phylogenetic relationships of its members. Vences, Glaw, Andreone, Jesu, and Schimmenti, 2002, Contrib. Zool., Amsterdam, 70: 191–212, revised the species of the subgenus Laurentomantis and commented on its phylogenetic placement within Mantidactylus and noted the paraphyly of Mantidactylus with respect to Mantella, the paraphyly of Brygoomantis, the polyphyly of Guibemantis and Gephyromantis, and the lack of evidence for either para- or monophyly of Pandanusicola. Glaw and Vences, 2002, J. Herpetol., 36: 376–377, provided a key to the species of the subgenus Phylacomantis. Vences and Glaw, 2004, J. Nat. Hist., London, 38: 77–118, revised the subgenus Chonomantis and summarized the call literature. Glaw and Vences, 2004, Spixiana, München, 27: 83–91, revised Ochthomantis. Vences and Glaw, 2005, Herpetol. J., 15: 37–44, reported on the phylogenetics of the subgenus Guibemantis. Randrianiaina, Strauss, Glos, Glaw, and Vences, 2011, Contrib. Zool., Amsterdam, 80: 17–65, reported on molecular phylogenetics and larval morphology of Ochthomantis, and noted at least 8 unnamed species. Grosjean, Strauss, Glos, Randrianiaina, Ohler, and Vences, 2011, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 162: 149–183, reported on uniformity of larval morphology in the subgenus Chonomantis and reviewed the literature as well as noting two unnamed species. Wollenberg, Vieites, Glaw, and Vences, 2011, BMC Evol. Biol., 11 (217) : 1–15. on the basis of a molecular analysis suggested Mantidactylus to be the sister taxon of Gephyromantis. Scherz, Crottini, Hutter, Hildenbrand, Andreone, Fulgence, Köhler, Ndriantsoa, Ohler, Preick, Rakotoarison, Rancilhac, Raselimanana, Riemann, Rödel, Rosa, Streicher, Vieites, Köhler, Hofreiter, Glaw, and Vences, 2022, Megataxa, 7: 113–311, provided a revision of the subgenus Brygoomantis on the basis of genetic markers, call and morphology analysis, recognizing 22 new species. 2 subspecies, and a system of named clades (detailed in the species records) and providing detailed species accounts for all species.
