Distribution
Occurs on mountains of the North East and in forests in the Northern Central East Madagascar; known from Ambatobe, Befanjana, Marojejy (from camp 2 upwards, i.e. above 700 m elevation), Sahavontsira, and Sorata (≥ 1279 m elevation), 14–1599 m elevation.

In the subgenus Brygoomantis, Mantidactylus inaudax clade of Scherz, Crottini, Hutter, Hildenbrand, Andreone, Fulgence, Köhler, Ndriantsoa, Ohler, Preick, Rakotoarison, Rancilhac, Raselimanana, Riemann, Rödel, Rosa, Streicher, Vieites, Köhler, Hofreiter, Glaw, and Vences, 2022, Megataxa, 7: 113–311, who provided subspecies accounts detailing (pp. 287–294) molecular and morphological diagnosis, natural history, adult and larval morphology, and distribution.
