Mantidactylus (Chonomantis) ventrilineatus Vences, Köhler, Mitze, Petzold, Preick, Raselimanana, Rakotoarison, Riemann, Rödel, Wastyn, Scherz, and Glaw, 2026, Spixiana, München, 48: 289. Holotype: ZSM 411/2006, by original designation. Type locality: "Imaloka, Ranomafana National Park, southern Central East of Madagascar (geographical coordinates 21.2421° S, 47.4652° E, 1020 m a. s. l.)".  

Common Names

None noted. 

Distribution

Known from several localities in the southern Central East and South East of Madagascar: (1) the type locality, Ranomafana, (2) Antoetra,(3) Vevembe, (4) Befotaka-Midongy, and (5) Vondrozo (a village close to Vevembe), and (6) Tolongoina (not far from Ranomafana). The reliably known elevational range is 590–1020 m.

Corresponds to Mantidactylus sp. 1 of Vieites, Wollenberg, Andreone, Köhler, Glaw, and Vences, 2009, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 106: 8267–8272, and Carné and Vieites, 2024, Diversity & Distributions, 30 (12: e13912): 1–13, and Mantidactylus sp. Ca1 of Perl, Nagy, Sonet, Glaw, Wollenberg, and Vences, 2014, Amphibia-Reptilia, 35: 197–206, according to the original publication. Previously it had been considered part of Mantidactylus aerumnalis, according to the original publication, who provided comparative morphology and molecular markers, as well as noting that the tadpole was described by Grosjean, Strauß, Glos, Randrianiaina, Ohler, and Vences, 2011, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 162: 149–183, under the name Mantidactylus aerumnalis (Ranomafana).
