Leptolalax (Lalos) eos Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 39. Holotype: MNHNP 2004.0274, by original designation. Type locality: "Long Nai (21° 14′ N, 101° 56′ E; 800 m), Phongsaly Province, Laos".

Distribution

Bo Kluea District, northern Thailand, though Phongsaly, Bolikhamxay, Oudomxai, and Xiasomboun Provinces, Laos to Dien Bien, Thanh Hoa, and Son La Provinces, northwestern Vietnam, and adjacent Yunnan, China; possibly in eastern Myanmar.

Comment

Confused with Leptolalax bourreti prior to to its naming according to the original publication. See comment under Leptolalax bourreti. Large-sized specimens from Yunnan mentioned by Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: xxx, as Leptolalax pelodytoides (Yang 1991) may be referable to Leptolalax eos according to Ohler, Wollenberg, Grosjean, Hendrix, Vences, Ziegler, and Dubois, 2011, Zootaxa, 3147: 1-83. Pham, Le, Nguyen, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2014, Russ. J. Herpetol., 21: 195–200, reported records from Dien Bien and Son La Provinces in northwestern Vietnam. Pham, Nguyen, Hoang, and Ziegler, 2016, Herpetol. Notes, 9: 32, provided a photograph and a record for Thuong Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam. Nguyen, Brakels, Maury, Sudavanh, Pawangkhanant, Idiiatullina, Lorphengsy, Inkhavilay, Suwannapoom, and Poyarkov, 2020, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 14 (2: e248): 218–249, discussed the range and provided a record from Xaisomboun and Oudomxai Provinces, Laos. Reported from Zhushihe, Yunnan, China, by Chen, Poyarkov, Suwannapoom, Lathrop, Wu, Zhou, Yuan, Jin, Chen, Liu, Nguyen, Nguyen, Duong, Eto, Nishikawa, Matsui, Orlov, Stuart, Brown, Rowley, Murphy, Wang, and Che, 2018, Mol. Wu, Chen, Pawangkhanant, Yothawut, Karuno, Suwannapoom, and Che, 2022, Herpetozoa, Wien, 35: 25–32, reported a record from Chom poo Phuka nature trail, Bo Kluea District, northern Thailand.
