Known from the vicinity of the type locality (Bingling, Honya County, central Sichuan, 1480 to 1560 m elevation).

Comment
Most similar to Megophrys omeimontis according to the original publication. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 183, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 211, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China. Fei and Ye, 2016, Amph. China, 1: 709–711, provided an account, photographs, and dot map, as Xenophrys binlingensis. Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 417, provided an account, did not mention any records from eastern Guizhou, suggesting reassignment of these records, and noted it to be in their Boulenophrys omeimontis group.
