Natural history, comparative adult morphology, and mtDNA markers detailed in the original publication which places this species as the sister taxon of Boulenophrys jiangi. Shen, Mu, Li, Liu, Feng, Yang, Yuan, Diao, and Su, 2026, Herpetozoa, Wien, 39: 81–89, reported on advertisement calls from Nayong County, Guizhou Province, China.
