Distribution

Known only from two localities: Mount Liwangzhang of Jiexi (800–1000 m elevation) and Shuangkeng Forestry Station (500–800 m elevation) of Jiedong, Guangdong, China, which are ca. 55 km from each other; inhabits flowing montane streams and the nearby forest floor and leaf litter.

Comment

The sister taxon of Boulenophrys ombrophila + Boulenophrys obesa, according to the original publication, where comparative external morphology and molecular markers were detailed. Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 430, provided an account and placed this in their Boulenophrys boettgeri group.
