Common Names
Nanling Horned Toad (original designation).
Distribution
Known from Nanling Nature Reserve and the neighboring Mangshan Nature Reserve (between elevations of 1000–1300 m), as well as Mount Qiyun (between elevations of 690–1400 m), Guangdong and Hunan Provinces, China; inhabits streams in bamboo forests.

Qian, Li, Chen, Li, and Yang, 2023, ZooKeys, 1139: 1–32, described larval morphology from Yizhang County, northern Guangdong Province, southern China. Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 435–436, provided an account and placed it in their Boulenophrys boettgeri group. Qian, Deng, Li, and Yang, 2023, Herpetozoa, Wien, 36: 123–128, reported on the advertisement call. Shang, Luo, Qian, Gao, Li, Deng, and Yang, 2023, Life Sci. Res., 27: 349–360, discussed the taxonomic status, comparative morphology, and molecular markers for a population from the Mangshan National Nature Reserve, Hunan, China.
