Distribution
Huanglian Nature Reserve, Tongzi County and Kuankuoshui Nature Reserve, Suiyang County, Guizhou Province, China, at elevations between 1400–1600 m.

Comment
The sister taxon of Megophrys spinata + Megophrys sangzhiensis (both now in Panophrys) according to the original publication, where the morphology and call were described as well as the species placed in a molecular tree. Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 421, provided an account and placed the species in their Boulenophrys omeimontis group.
