English Names

Naga Hills Horned Frog (original publication; Dinesh, Radhakrishnan, Deepak, and Kulkarni, 2023, Fauna India Checklist, vers. 5.0 : 6).

Distribution

Known  from the vicinity of Kohima and Star Lake in southern and eastern Nagaland state, India, respectively, at elevations between 1650 and 2220 m; also known from Hmuifang Village, Aizawl District, Mizoram, India 1478 m elevation; expected in continuous habitat in Manipur state, India, and Sagaing Region of western Myanmar.

Placed in the original publication in their Megophrys (Xenophrys) megacephala species group. Lalronunga, Vanramliana, Zosangliana, Lalhmangaiha, and Lalhmingliani, 2020, Reptiles & Amphibians, 27: 472–473, provided a record from Hmuifang Village, Aizawl District, Mizoram, India. Also including in this group by Lyu, Qi, Wang, Zhang, Zhao, Zeng, Wan, Yang, Mo, and Wang, 2023, Zool. Res., Kunming, 44: 383.
