Micrixalus gadgili Pillai and Pattabiraman, 1990, Rec. Zool. Surv. India, 86: 386. Holotype: ZSI-SRS VA/780 according to Chanda, Das, and Dubois, 2001 "2000", Hamadryad, 25: 107. Type locality: "Dynamite House, Pamba, Sabarigiri, [Kerala,] S. India, Alt. 990 metres".

Distribution

Western Ghats in the state of Kerala, restricted to between the Palghat and Shencottah Gaps; specifically reported from species in Sabarimala, Gavi (Pathanamthitta District), Thekkady (Idukki District) and Kesavapara (Palakkad District).

Das and Dutta, 2007, Hamadryad, 31: 154–181, noted no larval descriptions in the literature. A very brief characterization, photograph, and dot map provided by Subramanian, Dinesh, and Radhakrishnan, 2013, Atlas of Endemic Amph. W. Ghats: 60. Biju, Garg, Gururaja, Shouche, and Walujkar, 2014, Ceylon J. Sci., Biol. Sci., 43: 1-87, revised the species, provided an account on pp. 42-43, and placed it in their Micrixalus nudis group. Sivaprasad, 2013, Common Amph. Kerala: 68–69, provided a brief account, photograph, and dot map for Kerala, India.
