Hylophorbus picoides Günther, 2001, Russ. J. Herpetol., 8: 84. Holotype: ZMB 61971, by original designation. Type locality: "in the Wondiwoi Mts. at the base of the Wandammen Peninsula, about 8 km west of the coastal village of Yeretuar, 2° 56′ S, 134° 37′ E, at 530 m NN, Irian Jaya (West Papua)", New Guinea, Indonesia.

Distribution

Known from a vouchered locality only from the vicinity of the type locality, a slope ascending from 350 to 850 m west of the coast village of Yeretuar, Wondiwoi Mts. at the base of the Wandammen Peninsula, Papua, New Guinea, Indonesia; specimens from Batanta Island may be of this species; unvouchered specimens from the northern part of the Vogelkop Peninsula.

Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 250, provided a brief account. Oliver, Davie-Rieck, Ramdani, Dashper, Kusuma, Lee, Rittmeyer, Clancy, Hamidy, Thompson, Fouquet, Ferreira, and Richards, 2025, Pacific Conserv. Biol., 31(PC24063): 1–12, as part of a larger discussion of the role of citizen science in documenting species ranges in Melanesia noted that iNaturalist provided unvouchered records from northern part of the Vogelkop Peninsular, Papua, Indonesia.
