Comment
Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 169, had provisionally placed it in the synonymy of Sphenophryne biroi, but Zweifel, Menzies, and Price, 2003, Am. Mus. Novit., 3415: 16, rejected this, noting that the status of this taxon was not confirmed. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 203, provided a brief account.
