Platypelis efatra Rakotoarison, Petzold, Scherz, Crottini, Köhler, Hawlitschek, Ratsoavina, Glaw, and Vences, 2025, Zootaxa, 5717: 390. Holotype: ZSM 1621/2012, by original designation. Type locality: "Sorata Massif (near 13.6817°S, 49.4411°E, 1339 m a.s.l.), now included in the protected area COMATSA Nord, northern Madagascar". Distribution
Known from three locality in the Sorata Massif of northern Madagascar: 1) the type locality; (2) Andramanalana, and (3) Lohanandroranga. The elevational range in the Sorata massif is 1339–1558 m.

Comment
Comparative external and skeletal morphology as well as molecular markers (mtDNA-only) detailed in the original publication, where a dot-map of this species was provided and it was noted to have previously been considered to be part of Platypelis tetra.
