Type locality: "Sahambendrana campsite, 17°53’54.5’’ S, 049°12’55.2’’ E, 458 m a.s.l., Betampona, Region Atsinanana, Commune Rurale de Sahambala, east Madagascar".

Known only from the Réserve Naturelle Intégrale No. 1 de Betampona, Region Atsinanana, Commune Rurale de Sahambal, one of the last low-altitude rainforest fragments of eastern Madagascar

Comment
Suggested in the original publication on the basis of a minimal amount of mtDNA to be the sister taxon of Platypelis tuberifera.
