Distribution
Tsaratanana, Anjanaharibe-Sud, and Sorata Mountains, northern Madagascar, 1300-2600 m elevation.

Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 134-135, provided an account. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 456. Rakotoarison, Glaw, Vieites, Raminosoa, and Vences, 2012, Zootaxa, 3563: 1-25, discussed and redelimited the species. Rakotoarison, Scherz, Köhler, Ratsoavina, Hawlitschek, Megson, Vences, and Glaw, 2020, Zoosyst. Evol., Berlin, 96: 271, reported the species from the Sorata Massif but noted that further systematic work may require taxonomic revision.
