Rhombophryne mangabensis Glaw, Köhler, and Vences, 2010, Zoosyst. Evol., Berlin, 86: 236. Holotype: ZSM 470/2006, by original designation. Type locality: "Nosy Mangabe island (15° 30′ S, 49° 46′ E, ca. 50-100 m above sea level), off the north east coast of Madagascar next to the town of Maroantsetra".

Distribution

Nosy Mangabe and likely on the adjacent mainland of the Masoala peninsular, northeastern Madagascar. In the Rhombophryne testudo species group of Belluardo, Scherz, Santos, Andreone, Antonelli, Glaw, Muñoz-Pajares, Randrianirina, Raselimanana, Vences, and Crottini, 2022, Syst. Biodiversity, 20 (1: 2039320): 1–13. : 66, found this species to rest within Stumpffia, although they also suggested that this result may be due to mislabeling of sequences by Peloso, Frost, Richards, Rodrigues, Donnellan, Matsui, Raxworthy, Biju, Lemmon, Lemmon, and Wheeler, 2016, Cladistics, 32: 113–140.
