Comment
Confused with Elachistocleis ovalis prior to its naming according to the original publication. Strüssmann, Campos, Dorado-Rodrigues, Almeida, Toledo, Hoogmoed, and Valadão, 2012, Check List, 8: 317-320, provided a geographic range map and discussed the range. Meneghelli and Calderon, 2017 "2016", Herpetol. Rev., 47: 622, provided a record from Porto Velho, Rondônia, Brazil. See Marinho, Carvalho, Bang, Teixeira, Azarak, Costa-Campos, and Giaretta, 2018, Zootaxa, 4521: 357–375, for discussion (as Elachistocleis carvalhoi and Elachistocleis magna) of advertisement calls, intraspecific variation, and diagnosis. Jowers, Othman, Borzée, Rivas-Fuenmayor, Sánchez-Ramírez, Auguste, Downie, Read, and Murphy, 2021, Organisms Divers. Evol., 21: 189–206, discussed the phylogenetics and biogeography of this species. In the Elachistocleis surinamensis group of Novaes-e-Fagundes, Lyra, Loredam, Carvalho, Haddad, Rodrigues, Baldo, Barrasso, Loebmann, Ávila, Brusquetti, Prudente, Wheeler, Orrico, and Peloso, 2023, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 197: 545–568, who provided a dot map.
