Kaloula aureata Nutphand, 1989, Thai Zool. Cent., Bangkok, 4: 1–10. Syntypes: Not stated, but, as discussed by Pauwels and Chérot, 2006, Hamadryad, 30: 172–175, five specimens by original designation, including MNHNP 1997.4923, which was regarded as the holotype by Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 100, and designated lectotype by Pauwels and Chérot, 2006, Hamadryad, 30: 172–175, and who doubted the synonymy. Type localities: "Surat Thani Province" and "Nakhon Si Thammarat Province" (this latter locality being the lectotype locality), Thailand.

Distribution
Known only from the provinces of Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand.

Comment
Nutphund, 2001, Amph. Thailand: 163, provided a brief account of Kaloula aureata. Pauwels and Chérot, 2006, Hamadryad, 30: 172–175, discussed the status of Kaloula aureata, suggesting that on the basis of differences in color pattern and head shape that it is not a synonym of Kaloula pulchra macrocephala as suggested provisionally by Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 100.
