Comment

Transferred from Rana to the Limnonectes (Limnonectes) kuhlii group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 63; transferred to a monotypic ranid subfamily Lankanectinae and Lankanectes by Dubois and Ohler, 2001, Alytes, 19: 85. Delorme, Dubois, Kosuch, and Vences, 2004, Alytes, 22: 53-64, demonstrated that Lankanectes is not in Limnonectes or in Limnonectini. Lankanectes was placed as the sister taxon of Nyctibatrachus by Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297: 247 (the latter who recognized Nyctibatrachidae as including Lankanectes). See accounts by Boulenger, 1920, Rec. Indian Mus., 20: 61; Kirtisinghe, 1957, Amph. Ceylon: 35-39, and Dutta and Manamendra-Arachchi, 1996, Amph. Fauna Sri Lanka: 80-83. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 127-128, provided range, systematic comments, and a taxonomic bibliography (as Limnonectes corrugatus). Ukuwela and Bandara, 2009, Russ. J. Herpetol., 16: 213-216, reported on tadpole morphology. de Silva, 2009, Amph. Rep. Sri Lanka Photograph. Guide: 87, provided a brief account and color photograph. Bopage, Wewelwala, Krvavac, Jovanovic, Safarek, and Pushpamal, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 173-177, reported the species in lowland forest in the Kanneliya Forest of southwestern Sri Lanka.
