Proceratophrys ararype Mângia, Koroiva, Nunes, Roberto, Ávila, Sant’Anna, Santana, and Garda, 2018, Herpetologica, 74: 259. Holotype.: CHUFPE 156, by original designation. Type locality: "Mata do Clube Recreativo Grangeiro, Crato Municipality, Ceara´ state (78160 490 0S, 398260 220 0W; 720 m a.s.l.)".

Known only from the type locality of Mata do Clube Recreativo Grangeiro, from Clube Serrano Atlético Cratense, and from Síıtio Caianas, Crato Municipality, Ceará state, Brazil.
