Proceratophrys brauni Kwet and Faivovich, 2001, Copeia, 2001: 204. Holotype: MCP 3260, by original designation. Type locality: "near Fortaleza dos Aparados, 29° 00′ S, 50° 00′ W, at about 1000 m elevation, municipality of Cambará do Sul, state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil".
Common Names
Horn Toad (Toffolo, Nunes, Soares, and Zanella, 2017, Herpetol. Rev., 48: 385).
Distribution
One locality in central Paraná as well as records along both sides of the Santa Catarina–Rio Grande do Sul border from the midpoint of this border to the Atlantic coastal plain: Barracão, Cambará do Sul, and São Francisco de Paula in Rio Grande do Sul, and Timbé do Sul in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

In the Proceratophrys bigibbosa group according to the original publication, where the advertisement call was described. Santos, Colombo, Leonardi, Zank, Schossler, Vieira, Grant, Borges-Martins, and Verrastro, 2009, Check List, 5: 922–925, provided a dot-map and discussed the range. Toffolo, Nunes, Soares, and Zanella, 2017, Herpetol. Rev., 48: 385, provided ar record from Parque Estadual Pagagal Charão, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and briefly discussed the range. Dias, Araujo-Vieira, Santos, and Both, 2019, Copeia, 107: 417–429, reported on larval morphology.
