Distribution

Atlantic Forest biome, in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná, and in the southern region of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Removed from the synonymy of Proceratophrys boiei by Castro, Guimarães, Carrillo, Santana, and Mângia, 2026, Herpetozoa, Wien, 39: 177–202, where it had been placed by by Bokermann, 1966, Lista Anot. Local. Tipo Anf. Brasil.: 26, and Hoogmoed, 1990, Zool. Meded., Leiden, 63: 270. See comment under Proceratophrys boiei for access to literature under that name which may apply to this species.
