Cacosternum australis Channing, Schmitz, Burger, and Kielgast, 2013, Zootaxa, 3701: 528. Holotype: MHNG 2690.25, by original designation. Type locality: "Holotype: MHNG 2740.19, by original designation. Type locality: "Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, Robertson, Western Cape Province, South Africa (33° 54′ 55″ S, 19° 53′ 04″ E)".

Southern Dainty Frog (original publication). 

Southern Caco (Dorse and Dorse, 2023, Field Guide Fynbos Fauna: 46).

Distribution

Although only documented by molecular assay from Pearly Beach, Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, and Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve, Western Cape Province, Rep. South Africa, it is expected to be widely distributed in the southern Cape region and the Little Karroo.
