Comment
The sister taxon of Amolops yatseni and formerly confused with Amolops ricketti according to the original publication, where comparative morphology, molecular markers and relationships (a member of the Amolops ricketti group), and distribution were detailed, as well as noting previous misidentifications in older literature. See Amolops ricketti record for access to literature where this species was considered part of that species. Hecht, Pham, Nguyen, Nguyen, Bonkowski, and Ziegler, 2013, Biodiversity J., 4: 507–552, reported a record from Tay Yen Tu Nature Reserve, Bac Giang Province, northeastern Vietnam and discussed the range (as Amolops ricketti, presumably Amolops shihaitaoi now). Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 182–183, reported the species (as Amolops ricketti) in Yunnan, China. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 98, provided a brief account for Yunnan, China (based on Amolops shihaitaoi).See comments (as Amolops ricketti) by Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 92: 13. Siliyavong, Hoang, Nguyen, Nguyen, and Pham, 2023, Biodiversity Data J., 11(e104316): 1–16, provided a record from Tay Con Linh Nature Reserve, Ha Giang Province, northern Vietnam.
