Hylarana (Nidirana) hainanensis Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2007, Herpetol. Sinica, 11: 1. Holotype: CIB 64II3347, by original designation. Type locality: "Diaoluoshan of Lingshui County, Hainan Province; altitude 340 m", China.
Babina hainanensis — Frost, 2010, Amph. Spec. World, vers. 5.4. By implication of statement in original publication relating this species to Babina adenopleura.

Known only from the type locality (Diaoluoshan, Lingshui County, Hainan Province, China, 340 m elevation).

Comment
Most similar to Babina adenopleura (as Hylarana adenopleura) according to the original publication. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1177-1181, provided an account, figures, and map for China and placed it in their Hylarana (Nidirana) adenopleura group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 308, provided a brief account (as Hylarana hainanensis) including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 347, provided an account (as Nidirana hainanensis), photographs, and a range map for China. See comment under Nidirana adenopleura for literature addressing this species under that name.
