Odorrana aureola Stuart, Chuaynkern, Chan-ard, and Inger, 2006, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 1543: 8. Holotype: THNHM 05341 (= FMNH 265925), by original designation. Type locality: "on a large boulder on the bank of Sung Mak Hing Stream above Tad Loei Waterfall in hilly evergreen forest in Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, Phu Rua District, Loei Province, Thailand, 17° 15′ 32.4″ N 101° 30′ 22.8″ E".

Currently known only from the Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary and Phu Kradueng National park in Loei Province, Thailand, in swift cascades.


Confused with Odorrana livida prior to its description according to the original publication. Ampai, Rujirawan, Arkajag, McLeod, and Aowphol, 2015, Zootaxa, 3981: 508–520, reported on larval morphology.
