Type locality: "Khe Moi River, approximately 24 km west of Con Cuong village, Con Cuong District, Nghe An Province, Vietnam (18° 56′ 30″ N, 104° 48′ 35″ E)".

Distribution
Cascades in forested montane river systems across northern Vietnam (Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Bac Giang, and Nghe An provinces) as well as Ha Tinh Provincie, central Vietnam, and Bainan Village, Napo County, Guangxi, and Hekou County, Yunnan, both in China adjacent to the Vietnamese border.
