Comment
Confused with Rana andersoni previous to its description. In the Odorrana (Odorrana) andersonii group of Fei, Ye, Huang, Jiang, and Xie, 2005, in Fei et al. (eds.), Illust. Key Chinese Amph.: 126. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 28, provided specific localities for Vietnam (as Odorrana hmongorum). See discussion by Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 25: 55–74, who placed Rana hmongorum in synonymy on the basis of morphometrics. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Rana jingdongensis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 505. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1261–1266, provided an account, figures, and map for China, placed it in their Odorrana andersonii group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 334, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 376–377, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China. Ziegler, Tran, Nguyen, Perl, Wirk, Kulisch, Lehmann, Rauhaus, Nguyen, Le, and Vu, 2014, Herpetol. Notes, 7: 185–201, provided a record (as Odorrana cf jingdonensis) for Ha Giang Province and briefly discussed the range. Tran, Pham, and Nguyen, 2018, Proc. 3rd Natl. Sci. Conf. Biol. Res. Teach. Vietnam: 271–277, provided a record from Sin Ho District, Lai Chau Province, Vietnam. Luong, Nguyen, Le, Nguyen, and Nguyen, 2019, Herpetol. Notes, 12: 375–387, provided records from Dien Bien Province, Vietnam, and discussed the range and natural history. Luong, Pham, Do, Hoang, Phan, Nguyen, Ziegler, and Le, 2021, Check List, 17: 445–458, provided records from Lai Chau Province, Vietnam, and discussed the range. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 49, for undisclosed reasons doubted the synonymy of Odorrana hmongorum.
