Comment

Most closely related to Odorrana lipuensis according to the original publication, where comparative morphology and molecular markers were detailed. Mo, Liu, Chen, Yu, and Sun, 2022, Chinese J. Zool., 57: 937–943, provided a genetically-confirmed record from Nongyao, Napo County, Baise City, Guangxi Province, China (23°01′21″ N, 105°50′58″ E). Song, Qi, Wang, Gong, Liu, and Wang, 2025, Zoosyst. Evol., 101: 935–952, provided a detailed account of the species as part of a revision of the Odorrana lipuensis group, including photographs, comparative morphology and a molecular tree, as well as a dot map of distribution. These authors also suggested that the record of Odorrana lipuensis from Nam Xuan Lac HSCA, Bac Kan, Vietnam, likely applies to this species, given the change in diagnoses following their revision. Li, Mu, Jing, Liu, Cheng, and Wang, 2025, Zoosyst. Evol., 101: 1950, provided a dot map which showed both Odorrana lipuensis and Odorrana liboensis in Guangxi, China, and northeastern Vietnam. Pham, Hoang, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2025, Acad. J. Biol., 47: 1–10, provided genetically confirmed records from (1) Trang Dinh forest, Lang Son province, and (2) Ba Be National Park, Thai Nguyen Province (formerly Bac Kan Province), Vietnam, and provided morphological descriptions.
