Distribution
Known only from the type locality (Sangzhi County, Zhangjiajie) in montane northwestern Hunan near the Hubei border, China.

In the Odorrana schmackeri species complex, according to the original publication, where habitat, external morphology, molecular placement, and comparison with congeners was discussed.
