English Names

Hainan Small Treefrog (Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 510). 


Known only from the type locality (Mount Diaoluo, Lingshui County, Hainan I., China, 710 m elevation).


Similar to Philautus ocellatus according to the original publication. Shi, 2011, Amph. Rept. Fauna Hainan: 77, provided an account as Philautus hainanusFei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 510, provided a brief account, illustration, and a range map for China. Wang, Jia, Zhu, and Wang, 2021, Behavioural Proc., 189 (104423): 1–7, reported on the advertisement call.
