Telmatobius cirrhacelis Trueb, 1979, Copeia, 1979: 715. Holotype: KU 165991, by original designation. Type locality: "13 km E Loja (Abra de Zamora), 2850 m, Provincia Loja, Ecuador (latitude 03° 59′ S, longitude 79° 08′ W)".

Loja Water Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 84).

Distribution

Vicinity of the type locality in Loja Province, Ecuador.

Herpetol., 7: 9-37, for summary of biology and conservation and who reported that this species has not been collected since 1987. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 412. Székely, Eguiguren, Ordóñez-Delgado, Armijos-Ojeda, and Székely, 2020, PLoS One, 15(9: e0238306): 51, suggested that the species is extinct, having not been seen since 1984.
