Telmatobius fronteriensis Benavides, Ortiz, and Formas, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 211. Holotype: MZUC 25094, by original designation. Type locality: "Puquios, 21° 00′ 42 S—68° 23′ 256 W, 15 km NW of Ollague (on the Bolivian border), Provincia El Loa, II Region de Antofagasta, Chile; approximately 4150 m elevation".

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (Puquios, 15 km NW Ollague, Provincia El Loa, II Region de Antofagasta, Chile); likely along the same stream in adjacent Bolivia.
