Telmatobius hintoni Parker, 1940, Trans. Linn. Soc. London, Ser. 3, 1: 208. Holotype: BMNH 1929.11.12.1, by original designation, now renumbered by 1947.2.14.92 according to museum records. Type locality: "Tolota, Dept. Cochabamba, Bolivia". Synonymy with Telmatobius marmoratus by Vellard, 1951, Mem. Mus. Hist. Nat. Javier Prado, 1: 38.

Streams and pools in the high valleys of the departments of Cochabamba and northern Potosí, between approximately 2700–4400 m elevation.

De la Riva, 2005, in Lavilla and De la Riva (eds.), Monogr. Herpetol., 7: 77–78 (who provided an account), removed this taxon from the synonymy of Telmatobius marmoratus where it had been placed by Vellard, 1951, Mem. Mus. Hist. Nat. Javier Prado, 1: 49. Brunetti, Muñoz-Saravia, Barrionuevo, and Reichle, 2017, Canad. J. Zool., 95: 335–343, reported on underwater vocalization. In the Telmatobius marmoratus group of Barrionuevo, 2017, Cladistics, 33: 41–68.
