Pseudoeurycea naucampatepetl Parra-Olea, Papenfuss, and Wake, 2001, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ. Kansas, 20: 4. Holotype: MVZ 158941, by original designation. Type locality: "roadside bank along the road to las Lajas Microwave Station, 15 km (by rd) S Highway 140 from las Vigas, Veracruz, Mexico (19° 35.5′ N, 97° 05.7′ W, 3000 m elevation)".

English Names
Cofre de Perote Salamander (original publication; Liner and Casas-Andreu, 2008, Herpetol. Circ., 38: 34).
Distribution
Known from a narrow ridge extending east from Cofre de Perote and terminating in a small peak (Cerro Volcancillo) at the type locality, in the Sierra Madre Oriental in central Veracruz, Mexico, 2500-3000 m elevation; also reported from the pine forest in the municipality of of Chignautla, at elevations of 2879 m and 2918 m elevation, and the municipality of Tetela de Ocampo, Puebla, Mexico.
Comment
In the Pseudoeurycea bellii complex, related to Pseudoeurycea gigantea, according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 287, provided a brief account, photograph, and map. Fernández-Badillo, Morales-Capellán, González-Bonilla, Canseco-Márquez, and Hernández-Silva, 2020, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 14: 200–205, provided a new record and discussed specimens and the known range of the species.
