Comment
See account by McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 143–145, who note that the population in the western part of the Cordillera Nombre de Dios may be a distinct species from those populations in the central part of this range. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 36, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 76–80, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 368, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. See account by Townsend, 2016, Zootaxa, 4196: 516–520, who revised and redelimited the species to populations within Yoro province, Honduras, populations formerly assigned to this species in Atlántida province now assigned to Nototriton oreadorum and Nototriton nelsoni. The status of populations in Cortés province, Honduras is unclear. .
