Nototriton mime Townsend, Medina-Flores, Reyes-Calderón, and Austin, 2013, Zootaxa, 3666: 361. Holotype: USNM 579870, by original designation. Type locality: "Cerro Ulloa (15.3833°N, 86.0399°W), Parque Nacional Montaña de Botaderos, 1,705 m, Departamento de Olancho, Honduras".

Nototriton (Bryotriton) mime — Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 877–878, provided an account summarizing morphology, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).

Known only from the type locality (Cerro Ulloa, Parque Nacional Montaña de Botaderos, 1705 m elevation, Departamento de Olancho, Honduras).

The sister taxon of Nototriton picucha according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 369, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 884, provided an account summarizing morphology, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
