Nototriton saslaya Köhler, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 205. Holotype: SMF 79408, by original designation. Type locality: "S slope of Cerro Saslaya (13° 46.0′ N, 85° 02.3′ W), 1371 m elevation, Región Autónoma Atlántico Norte, Nicaragua".

Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (south slope of Cerro Saslaya) in cloud forest, Atlántico, Nicaragua, 1280–1370 m elevation.
